The daughter of Indian parents, Hemalayaa (Hema) is a yoga and Indian dance diva whose love for fitness began at home at a very early age. While learning meditation from her father as a child, she went on to intensively study yoga with leaders such as Jeffrey Armstrong (Philosophy of Yoga); various styles of Indian dance such as bhangra, bollywood and classical (with Sarala Dandekar); and has honed the latest moves from Indian MTV.

This unique combination of influences has culminated in three exciting classes, “Bollywood Vinyasa”, “Sacred Dance and Yoga” and “Kama Sutra Yoga Journey”, under the umbrella of the HEMA Wellness Program. The HEMA Wellness Program establishes a state of balance, health and well being with the HEMA tools of Healing, Empowerment, Movement (Yoga & Dance) and Ayurveda, integrating these practices sustainably into your life for real transformation!

Hema’s special gift is a teaching style that invites students to embark on a journey to their own inner joy. Her spicy and sassy full-body workouts help to get you in the groove while pumping up the cardio and toning your core, hips and thighs. You’ll burn calories, lose weight, sweat away stress and deepen your yoga practice while enjoying great Indian music. Her classes are about fitness in the fullest possible sense.

This dynamic woman has shared her gifts across the globe by teaching at workshops, classes, festivals and retreats in some of the world’s most beautiful settings.

Her recent media appearances include: LA Yoga, Yogi Times, Fit Yoga, The New York Times, the May 2009 cover of Yoga Journal Magazine, as well as Ellen and The Today Show.
